"There is a unique connection between children and animals."
Recent studies show scientific proof that children who engage with animals have significantly lower stress hormone levels than those who don't. As our philosophy is working with the "whole child," in this case, "the whole rider" we also believe in working with the "whole horse." In other words, we enjoy teaching about the horse with a holistic approach. Each horse has his own personality that the camper will get to know. Their relationship with the human, the interaction, feeling and reaction of the horse is part of the training. Each rider will learn how to groom, saddle and take care of the horse, in addition to riding. Most importantly, campers will discover and meet a new friend…with four legs and a tale!
Our instructors’ wealth of knowledge and ability to work with riders of all levels creates the perfect learning environment. ADAPTIVE RIDING WITH DANASome children have difficulty bonding emotionally to others, making eye contact and communicating about feelings.
By learning to care for the horse, they associate the care they provide with feelings and an emotional bridge is constructed. This bond can lead to social and communication skill production with other people in his life as well. This benefits everyone but especially children with disabilities, anxiety, fear and stress. Available Saturdays! Adaptive riding: Each lesson will be customized to the students individual needs and goals, while utalizing the natural gait and movement of a horse to provide motor, and sensory input. These lessons can improve coordination, balance, gross motor skills, language, strength and learning of the participant.
Unmounted horsemanships: This is an opportunity to learn about how to interact with and take care of horses, building confidence, self-esteem, and relationships. Students learn foundational skills, general horse care (including grooming and how to tack up and lead a horse), horse body language, horse communication skills and stable management. |
